Their author is the painter Roman Nyga. They are located in Bieruń. The first is a painting entitled The Holy Family placed in the parish church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle. The work symbolically conveys, among others, the beauty of love, community, faith. We can also encounter these issues in the square of the so-called St. Valentine's Square. In its center there is a column - the Monument of St. Valentine, Patron Saint of the City of Bieruń. The main access to the central point of the square is flanked by two low plinths, on both sides of which there are granite slabs with drawings and inscriptions: love - purity, let's do good, faith - prayer, grace - miracle. The research method adopted in this study combines the analysis of sacred art with a local historical background and a broader cultural perspective. The aim of the study is to isolate symbols and signs encoded in the works discussed and which co-determine their uniqueness in which the beauty of art conveys the beauty of deep faith and prayer.
Grażyna Lasek Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. The manuscript, housed in the Archives and Library of the Kraków Cathedral Chapter, was thoroughly examined by esteemed scholars during the International Conference Ad fontes Cathedralis Cracoviensis in 2022.
Among the numerous Gregorian pieces, the antiphon ad introitum Suscepimus Deus found in the manuscript deserves special attention. The uniqueness of this antiphon is defined by: its deep reflection of theological content in the gregorian melody, the fact of double neumatic notation within a single manuscript, and the lacuna present on one of the folios.
Maciej Kępczyński Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. Część 2: Kompozycje do tekstu niemieckiego i kompozycje organowe https://czasopisma.uni.opole.pl/index.php/ls/article/view/5673
In this article, the author examines the arrangements of the Magnificat canticle of selected Lutheran composers of the 17thand the first half of the 18th century, focusing on the works to the German text as well as on the organ compositions. In the introductory part, the author briefly presents the characteristics of the use of the Magnificat with the German text in the Protestant liturgy and its distinctive features compared to the Magnificat with the Latin text. Then, the compositions to the German text by M. Praetorius and H. Schütz are analyzed. In the next step, the author presents the Magnificat works for organ, focusing first on the history of their development, and then giving examples of compositions by D. Buxtehude and J. Pachelbel. The final conclusions emphasise, on the one hand, the relationship in the field of musical rhetoric between the studied compositions and compositions to the Latin texts, and, on the other, their convergence with Martin Luther's theological views on the Virgin Mary.
Piotr Herok Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. Hiller, the cantor of the Lutheran parish of St. Mary Magdalene in Breslau (Wrocław) at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This source, preserved in the State Archives in Wrocław, provides valuable insights into the musical repertoire of the parish, which included compositions by both Protestant and Catholic composers. The catalog documents the collection used in worship services and concerts, illustrating how repertoire selection shaped the identity of the local community. The concept of collective memory, as developed by M. Halbwachs, is employed to demonstrate music’s role as a tool for constructing and preserving cultural and religious traditions. The study also takes into account the musical holdings of St. Christopher’s Church, which was affiliated with the same parish. The analysis of musical sources from both churches, in the context of E. Bohn’s publications, offers a deeper understanding of the history of musical life in this community, the phenomenon of musical ecumenism in Breslau, and the relationship between liturgical repertoire and parish identity.

Key words: music catalog; Emil Hiller; Lutheran parish of St. Mary Magdalene; church music; collective memory; ecumenism; Breslau.
Grzegorz Joachimiak Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. They are a special kind of oration, pointing to the importance of the Holy Year in the life of the Church, which is quite strongly based on the importance of the Christian understanding of hope. This article aims to highlight the multifaceted nature of the new Mass forms, while emphasizing their connection to the theme of the Jubilee. Therefore, the text is divided into three parts, treating the three new forms in turn. This allows one to perceive the theological thought contained in these orations, and thus to celebrate the liturgy more consciously. This is because it is the center of the Church's faith.
Dawid Makowski Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. The doctrinal foundations of pastoral care for homosexual individuals were formulated by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in the 1986 letter of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Homosexualitatis problema. A new shape of this pastoral care is proposed by Pope Francis in the 2023 declaration Fiducia supplicans.

A comparative analysis of these and other documents leads to the conclusion that, although the Church's position on the phenomenon of homosexuality has not changed, a more open pastoral approach towards homosexual individuals has been developed. This approach ensures greater participation in the liturgical life through the introduction of the possibility of blessing homosexual couples within the context of popular piety. The explanation of the form, meaning, and purpose of this blessing helps to better understand Pope Francis' pedagogical intuition, which does not conflict with the teachings of Joseph Ratzinger but rather develops them in the pastoral field.

Keywords:

liturgy, sacramentals, blessings, popular piety, liturgical life, pastoral care, homosexuality, blessing of homosexual couples, Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Francis, Fiducia supplicans.
Kultu Bożego i Dyscypliny Sakramentów, Dyrektorium o pobożności ludowej i liturgii. Zasady i wskazania, nr 61).
Waldemar Bartocha Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. A canonical-liturgical reflection https://czasopisma.uni.opole.pl/index.php/ls/article/view/5634
This article deals with the title of a church from a canonical-liturgical point of view. The custom of giving churches a title dates back to Christian antiquity. From the fourth century onwards, when consecrating churches, they were given a special title, thereby placing them under the special protection of some saint or the Saviour himself. The ecclesiastical legislator attaching great importance to the title of a church stipulates that "every church should have a title which, after the consecration of the church, cannot be changed". Churches may have as their title the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Angels, the Saint. Without the approval of the Holy See, a church may not be given the title of a blessed whose celebration is not yet legally recorded in the diocesan calendar. In certain situations, however, the title of a church may be changed, with the consent of the Holy See. Also, when merging and abolishing parishes, the new parish may have a different title from the parish church.
Jerzy Adamczyk Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra. In the cultic context of the Church, salvation events become present. Anyone who participates in a liturgical celebration can experience an encounter with the true God and receive sanctification. In theology, the manner of this presence of the saving events and of God Himself is called liturgical anamnesis – a presence that happens through the Holy Spirit. Whether in
a single liturgical action, a particular celebration, or in the space we call the liturgical year, Jesus Christ awaits. Thus, by participating in the liturgy, one experiences what is divine, supernatural and salvific with the help of signs and symbols, and thanks to the senses one can enter and experience salvific events in one's own way.
Paweł Korsan Copyright (c) 2025 Liturgia Sacra.
