Abstract
Environmental decisions and sustainable development policies that are accepted after a process of engaging and empowering the public take into account different perspectives and are better reasoned and widely based on the knowledge of various stakeholders. Participation in the decisionmaking process allows stakeholders to have a sense of “ownership”, which helps to encourage effective implementation.
