Abstract

Interruptions were and are an integral part of politics. It is impossible to imagine a par[1]liamentary debate without interruptions. In my research I focus on on the interruptions conducted during the 22nd session of the 12th term of the House of Deputies of the Austrian Imperial Council in 1917–1918. I answer the following questions: What was the significance of the interruptions in parliamentary debate and communication? How were they linguistically constructed and what emo[1]tions did they express? When and for what purpose were they used? I also describe their functions and types. I also present different types of hecklers.
