Abstract

The starting point of the following paper is the statement that delinquency, as an integral part of the
lives of the city inhabitants, is a part of their everyday life. The following work attempts to answer the question whether – or how – the medieval and early modern book of proscriptions from Świdnica can be regarded
as a mirror in which the written down information about crimes perceived as exceeding the boundaries of the
law can be found. The main considerations concern the information potential of proscription entries. Then,
the issue of the text components of individual proscription annotations is discussed in order to determine their
structure in the context of its optional and obligatory elements.
