The aim of this article is to present the beginnings of German Catholicism, a free religious movement that, originating in Silesia, found supporters in Germany, based on press reports in the Breslauer Zeitung. The journal made an important contribution to the history of religion and the published articles make it possible to reconstruct the individual stages of the emergence of the free religious movement.
