Abstract

In the literary reportage Droga 816 (2015), Michał Książek – ornithologist, cultural scientist, and
environmentalist – reflects on the diverse dimensions of the border, while questioning dualistic concepts
nature vs. culture, human vs. animal, and wilderness vs. nature in human proximity. The article examines his
perception and transcending of borders, as well as their linguistic representation in Droga 816 (2015), Atlas
dziur i szczelin (2023), and the poetry collections Nauka o ptakach (2014) and Północny wschód (2017). The
analysis situates his work within the context of nature writing and its key concepts, such as biocentrism,
anthropocentrism, natureculture (Haraway 2003), and wildness/wilderness, supplemented by a brief outline of
the concept of linguistic worldview.
