The syntax of the German trade language in the late Middle Ages in Krakow. The entry into the city book and the cedula papirea
Abstract
The article is devoted to syntactic issues within the German testaments of Krakow burghers from the late Middle Ages. Copies of testamentary sketches (cedula papirea) prepared by private writers operating in the city as well as the entries into the city books in the form of a protocol, which were made directly in the town hall on the basis of the testator’s words, were taken into account. The aim of the article is to compare the syntax used in wills with the sentence structure used in the Krakow’s chancellery against the background of the general development trends of the German syntax.
