The changing landscape of professional communication – how technology is changing our language
Abstract
Technical innovations, digital transformation and automation have a tremendous impact on our lives and on our (professional) communication. The distinction between disciplines and the technical language used in them is decreasing due to growing interdisciplinarity and transformation processes, especially in science and technology. At the same time, we can trace a strong specialisation of disciplines through challenging topics such as electromobility in the automotive industry. This article presents examples of change processes prompted by Data Science as well as electromobility related to terminology, genre and language use as well as human-machine interaction.
