Abstract

The Corona pandemic has left clear traces in the language, which manifest themselves in particular in the form of neologisms, new meanings, borrowings and increased use of technical terms in everyday language. Observing the language after the Corona pandemic from a certain distance in time also shows that it has had an effect on activating certain variants or nuances of the meaning of words. The phenomenon of such a word career, shown using the example of the words Booster / boostern, is analyzed below. Based on current usage contexts of these words in contemporary German, an attempt is made to show their current usage profile and to point out certain usage peculiarities and meaning potential in order to be able to present them as fashionable or trend words.
