Review procedure
The starting point for the review procedure in the journal “Prace Germanistyczne / Germanistische Werkstatt” are the recommendations contained in the brochure “Dobre praktyki w procedurach recenzyjnych w nauce” / “Good Practices in Review Procedures in Science,” Warsaw 2011. (published at: https://www.bip.pw.edu.pl/Wladze/Zespoly-Rady-Komisje-KapitulyRzecznicy/Archiwum/kadencja-2012-2016/Komisja-ds.-Etyki-Zawodowej/Materialypomocnicze/Dobre-praktyki-w-procedurach-recenzyjnych-w-nauce ).
Authors submitting a text for publication in the journal “Prace Germanistyczne / Germanistische Werkstatt” agree to undergo the review procedure of the journal. Submitted texts are subject to preliminary formal and content-related evaluation by the Editorial Board. Articles that meet the scientific workshop and formal requirements specified in the "Editorial Guidelines" (published at: http://ger.wfil.uni.opole.pl/wp-content/uploads/6_Wytyczne_redakcyjne.pdf ), are accepted for further procedure.
Authors are required to have submitted manuscripts proofread by a native-speaker. All information about the authors and such information that could help identify the authors is removed from the manuscripts.
The Editorial Board selects reviewers from specialists in the field - this can be someone from the journal's list of regular reviewers (published at: http://ger.wfil.uni.opole.pl/redakcja-i-recenzenciredaktion-und-gutachter/ ) or from outside it. Reviewers must guarantee that there is no conflict of interest with the authors of the work (no direct personal relationship, no relationship of professional dependence and no direct scientific collaboration on the text submitted for publication), to which they shall make an appropriate declaration. Reviewers are not members of the Scientific Board of the journal, their names’ list is published in each volume of the journal without disclosing the names of the reviewers of individual texts.
The editorial secretary sends the texts to two reviewers for evaluation. Reviews are done on a double anonymity basis (blind review procedure): reviewers and authors do
not know each other's identity. It is not possible to declassify reviews. The review takes into account the merits of the text, the clarity and originality of the research problem presented, the reliability of the research hypotheses, the adequacy of the research methods used and the bibliography. The review shall be drawn up in writing on a review form and shall
contain an unequivocal conclusion as to whether or not the article should be accepted for publication, or a conclusion that the article should be accepted for publication if the author fulfils certain conditions (correction or supplementation).
Upon receipt of the review by the Editorial Board, the Secretary shall inform the Author of the submitted paper of the outcome.
The final decision on whether a text qualifies for print is made by the Editorial Board after the Author has made the corrections and additions indicated in the review.
The phenomena of ghostwriting and guest authorship are treated as manifestations of scientific dishonesty, and detected cases will be disclosed, including notification of relevant entities (institutions employing the Author, scientific societies, etc.).
