Abstract

The literary motif of Silesian Texans, as the descendants of the Upper Silesians who emigrated to Texas are called, appears in the most recent literature from Upper Silesia. This article attempts to show the phenomenon of Silesian Texans found in the literary works of different genres (poetry, essays, travel literature, novels) and to elucidate upon the contents hidden within. So far this topic has been taken up by Jan Goczoł, Jo Hannes Schlonsok, Szczepan Twardoch, Michael Sowa and Adam Pe(j)ter Kubik. This contribution can thus
be understood as stocktaking, with the intention to initiate further investigations of this motif.
