The article focusses on Silesia as a multilingual border region of Europe and children’s literature as
an opportunity for intercultural exchange. Against the background of increasing German Polish translation practice,
empirical teaching and reception research and intercultural children’s literature didactics, contemporary
picturebook artists from, in and about Silesia and their reception in German-speaking countries are presented
and the journey motif is examined as a way of crossing borders using selected picturebooks.
