Abstract

The paper analyses the political language of Karpathen-Post, a German-language newspaper published in Kesmark/Kežmarok from 1880 to 1942, and its role in reflecting and shaping societal and political dynamics in the historically complex region of Zips/Spiš. Using political linguistic and corpus analysis methods, the study examines how key themes were conceptualized during the first Czechoslovak parliamentary elections in 1920. By analysing frequency and context of specific keywords, the paper reveals how the political party Zipser Deutsche Partei (ZDP) employed rhetoric to foster collective identity and mobilize political support.
