Abstract

The 19th century was a period of special development of the press and, through it, mass communication. With the development of various magazines, advertising began to develop and spread in the press. The first advertisements were intended to provide information about available goods, which were increasing day by day. Advertising research provides insight into various areas of social life. The following analysis of advertisements appearing in Breslauer Zeitung aims to contribute to a better understanding of the expectations and social dispositions of the inhabitants of Wrocław in the 19th century.
