Abstract

This article analyses the important role of the German Language Olympiad in relations between Poland, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as highlights its importance in the European dimension. The text first describes the organizational structure and course of the Olympiad, and then focuses on the oral stage, analyzing in detail the thematic scope that the participants of the competition must master. Reading selected books from the German-language canon and confronting issues in the field of history, geography, economy, politics, society and culture can strengthen the attitude of the participants of the competition, the foundation of which is openness to otherness, tolerance and respect for others.
