Abstract

This article presents the results of a research of women with disabilities, excluding intellectual disabilities, holistic developmental disorders and mental illnesses. In the literature, one can find studies showing the difficulties of women with disabilities in these areas of life.
The purpose of this article is to analyze the functioning of women with disabilities families in relation to their situation in the labor market and the financial intitutional support of families.
The subject of the study covered the professional and family functioning of women with disabilities, and the purpose was to show the relationship of women's disabilities to their professional and family roles, furthermore to show the support system in these two areas.
It was shown that with the severity of disability, family functioning improves according to women. Subsequently, the professional activity of women with disabilities or their inactivity on the labor market does not differentiate this group of people in terms of family functioning. In addition, the higher the degree of disability of the women surveyed, the more strongly they claim that their disability limits their husband/partner in the professional field. In contrast, the degree of women's disability is not related to their assessment of how educationally constrained their family members are. It also seems that the lower is the degree of disability and the better the labor market situation of the women in the study, the lower are their needs for institutional support.
Disability can be a factor that does not disturb the positive image of the family, the regularity of its functioning and family ties. In addition, the inactivity of women with disabilities, often due to limitations caused by disability, does not necessarily have a negative impact on the family. Families of women with disabilities benefit from financial support from institutions, but the lower is the degree of disability, the better the functions of the family are carried out and the less need for such assistance.
