Metropolitan areas in the civilization of knowledge (a case study of Wroclaw Metropolitan Area)

Abstract

New trends getting in development’s processes of social and economic space of countries are noticed in last years. Big settling centers called metropolitan areas begin playing important role. According with innovative policy of European Union big cities are developed on knowledge base and on global, creative operations direct. Moreover, new type of society opened on changes is formed. These changes are the result of innovative processes realized within network civilization of knowledge. On base of carried researches and done deliberations it was ascertained, that utilization of new external conditionalities, connecting first of all with European integration’s process and internal ones determined by forming only in Wroclaw metropolitan area net structure, but what’s the most important exerting exogenous feature and based on knowledge – it all no doubt proclaims huge chance for decision-makers and inhabitants of this part of Poland. The activities which are undertaken in this range and realized to optimal manner should affect for modernization of social and economic structure of whole Lower Silesia and contribute to increase of this region’s competitive power. As a reason of the elaboration’s limited volume presented matters, opinions and conclusions were depicted in synthetic form.
