Institutional social capital of Wroclaw on the example of the public benefit organizations

Abstract

The level of the social capital is one of affecting factors for dynamics of the development and the competitive position of the city. The research on this capital is applying mainly two of his dimensions: participatory – active involvement in organizations and institutional – number of organizations. An institutional dimension of the social capital is a subject of deliberations of this study. Data concerning the public benefit organization registered in Wroclaw in a year 2004–2010 was used for this research. The researches were carrying out in two aspects temporary and spatial. changes in the distribution of these organizations, as well as dynamics of the number of entities were being analyzed. They were seeking the relation between spatial distributions the organization and the functional structure of areas of the city with a high concentration of those organizations. An attempt to determine factors being able to affect the image of the species diversity of these organizations was also made. The analyses allowed to state how look like the spatial diversity of the public benefit organization in the space of the city of Wroclaw as well as what areas are characterized about the high concentration of these subjects by.
