Abstract

The paper describes an example of participatory-driven creation of central area of a large city, area representing high economic and cultural values. The functional-spatial changes observed in the housing estate since 2010 are mainly carried out with the involvement of the community of inhabitants and non-governmental organizations. These activities constitute an interesting example of real participation in the Polish context, which goes beyond the most frequently observed facade forms. The activities that hold the material of the historic housing estate are an interesting example of creative reuse phenomenon.
