FUNCTIONING OF THE CIVIC BUDGET IN SMALL TOWNS OF THE LODZKIE VOIVODSHIP

Abstract

The participatory budget is a specific form of social participation, in which the inhabitants of  local government unit may decide to allocate part of the available public funds during voting for submitted  civic projects. The participatory budget had its beginnings in Poland in 2011. Since then, more and more  Polish cities and municipalities have used this project as a democratic way of managing public funds at the  local level, ensuring the actual participation of the public in the decision-making process. The aim of this  study is to diagnose and assess the functioning of the civic budget in small towns of the Lodzkie Voivodship
