The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about changes in the functioning of economies, societies, and as a consequence, cities. The article presents the results of the study titled "COVID in Behavioural & Urban Context," which examines how life was returning to Polish cities during the first wave of COVID-19 from March 16 to June 1, 2020. The essence of the study was to explore the behavior and activities of users in public spaces in 28 Polish cities during the periods of economic closure and reopening. The project's results serve as a source of information about the vitality of cities during the implementation of pandemic restrictions. The study revealed significant variations in collective behaviors in successive weeks, clear changes in social and spatial distances, as well as diverse reactions of different user groups to recommendations in different types of urban centers.
