POTENCJALNY WPŁYW COVID-19 NA STRUKTURĘ WYDATKÓW KONSUMPCYJNYCH GOSPODARSTW DOMOWYCH W POLSCE

Abstract

The aim of this study is to indicate the potential impact of COVID-19 on the situation of families in terms of their consumption structure, with particular emphasis on the demand for food products, which, despite the declaration of a pandemic, were available for purchase. The analysis took into account data on the budgets of households located in urban areas. The population of households was divided into subgroups taking into account the activity of the household members in the labour market.

Examining the consumption structure of families with a different degree of participation in the labour market, the study found that the greatest differences occur in the relative expenditures on food products. But there is a clear difference in the behaviour of families with one unemployed person depending on their gender. The consumption structure of households where the woman is out of work is clearly similar to the relative expenditure of households in which both adults work. When the man is unemployed, the structure of consumption becomes more similar to that of households in which both partners are unemployed.
