The reorganization of the army in last few years has been caused major changes in the spatial distribution of military units. Some of them have been completely liąuidated, while others have been expanded and modernized. This has contributed to changes in the functional-spatial structure of urban areas associated with the army. This is particularly evident in smaller cities where the army and the community linked to it have a significant impact on the shaping of urban space. Article aims to describe the impact of a military unit on the transformation of functional-spatialstructure of a smali town, which Łask is. Development of this town, for over fifty years connected with the army, is largely associated with localized in the neighborhood the military facilities. In addition to military infrastructure on the formation of the spatial structure of Łask affects the belonging to the Ministry of Defense residential buildings for individual workers and their families. The process also includes changes in land use of former military unit.
