The subject of the article concerns the environmental aspect of revitalization processes currently carried out by Polish cities. The aim of the article is to present and analyze solutions that can adapt the revitalized areas of cities to the current and future climate problems that cities are struggling with, as well as to the principles of sustainable development. The article will also present and evaluate the standards of designing and implementing revitalization projects on the example of Łódź in the context of preparing cities for drastically changing climatic conditions and improving the conditions for the development of existing urban greenery and determining methods for increasing the amount of greenery in cities and most urbanized zones. Selected revitalization projects implemented in Łódź will be subject to a detailed analysis in terms of the applied ecological solutions and implementation of projects in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Currently, there is also a poor preparation for the management of urban regeneration processes, in particular in the environmental dimension of local authorities and private entities, which is a significant problem and barrier to the development of cities, and for public management sciences - a research challenge.
