According to J. Lyons (1977: 446), the stricter interpretation ofthe term 'synonymy' is that "two items are syпonymous if they have the same sense".However, ,,it is а widely-held view that there are few, if апу, 'real' synonyms in natural languages" (J. Lyons 1977:447). There are much more context-dependent synonyms than context-free ones and that fact brings us to syntactic synoпymy, which did not attract the same attention of specialists as the lexical one. The aim of this paper is to demoпstrate some of the possibilities of Macedonian to express syntactic synonymy in the frame of compound sentences. There are at least two ways to соте to syntactic synonymy: first, to comЬine two independent sentences, and second, to depart from one compound sentence and to search for syпonymous ones. The first way may give us examples ofrelative, as well as stylistic synoпymy, and the second- the examples of the stylistic synonymy only.
