Vladimir Holan is the author of a cycle of five poems and one essay treating K. H. Macha, the creator ofthe Czech modem poetry. It has already been proved that the cycle represents not only Holan’s expression of admiration fouK. H. Macha, but that it is also the self-portrait of Holan himself. The article analyses the cycle as one text integrated by Macha’s philosophy of world and man. The reconstruction of the philosophy by Macha presents at the same time the proclamation of Holan’s own philosophy.
