The study covered all Polish cities. The time frame covered is from 2000 until 2009. In order to determine the level of affuence, the index of communes’ income from (participation in) personal income tax (PIT) was used and was compared to the national average income. The study revealed a high level of spatial diversity in the affuence of citizens. It was mainly connected with the dynamic economic developement of particular cities and had a relatively permanent character.
