Abstract

Revitalization, as a method of intervention in deprived urban neighborhoods, hardly places itself in the arsenal of land-use planning methodology. Thereby it gets, mostly, to the category: instrument of repair, reactive. It is expected that the program of revitalization will trigger those of the endogenous resources that manage to overcome the effects of socio-economic degradation, and will change only that deprived part of the city, suppressing unfavorable course of things. The paper presents the observations and conclusions of the participatory programming of revitalization in two Polish cities that had been undertaken and carried out with regard to achieve change in land use of broader scale, beyond the requirement to restore the status quo and repair distorted functional and spatial relationships.
