Abstract
Elia Cataldo is a modern stigmatist that carries the signs of our Lord’s Passion on his own body and is involved in evangelistic works. He is a continuator of the mission of St. Francis of Assisi, who was the first to receive stigmas. To confirm the credibility of extraordinary gifts, Elia is subjected to detailed medical examinations and observations by the Congregation of Science and Faith. This article depicts a phenomenon of Elia’s stigmata and includes him in the context of fulfilling the charisma of “being a stigmatic”. Such an approach to the problem of stigmas opens the way for further theological discussion and inspires further research at an interdisciplinary level.
