Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the text of Jer. 1:4-19 according to the principles of biblical Hebrew rhetoric. The analysis made it possible to bring out the composition
of the text under study, and by showing the relationships within the units, it led to deeper theological conclusions. The depicted relationships between individual segments and parts confirm the complementarity of the composition, which consists of a sequence of three fragments in ABA’ relationship. The vocation of Jeremiah that was the focus of the study can be considered in the context of three realities: (A) the call, which is the first stage of the vocation; (B) the visions, which define the purpose of the mission; (A’) the mission, which is the fulfillment of the tasks resulting from the vocation.
