Abstract

The present article is devoted to the Polish thread of Merian Coopers life. In the United States and in the world he was known mainly as a producer and film director. In Poland, however, he was remembered for his participation in the Polish-Bolshevik war in the ranks of the pilots of the Kosciuszko Squadron. Through the example of Merian Cooper and his fellow American pilots in Polish uniforms, we are trying to prove the existence of the Polish-American borderland despite the lack of a Polish-American border in the strict geographical sense of this word.
