Abstrakt

Until recently, marriage was the only socially acceptable community of two partners of different gender, with the goal of creating a family and prolonging the human race. The aim of this paper is to examine the attitudes of University students towards marriage and family. The research was based on the survey regarding the attitudes of students from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia towards institution of marriage. Collected data were analysed by using the SPSS statistical software. The main results indicate that 93.8% of respondents want to get married one day; an ideal number of children for a family to have been two (48.4%); 54.6% of respondents strongly agreed that if being in a marriage does not work properly, they should divorce. The results of these analyses and their limitations suggest guiding a future research according to different attitudes of respondents. This research provides the most ambitious and systematic analysis to date the attitudinal evidence on the attitudes of family, future children, and divorce among University students.

Anđelija Ivkov Džigurski is a Full professor and a chairman of the Chair of Social Geography at the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management, Faculty of Sciences (University of Novi Sad). Research in Geography and Tourism Geography and teaching in various geography and tourism subjects (Methodology of Teaching Geography, Innovation in teaching geography, Methodology of Teaching Geography 2; PhD Curses: Population Policy and Family Planning, Chosen chapters of Methodology of Teaching Geography).

From 2005 until today, Andjelija Ivkov-Džigurski was a supervisor on 166 final papers (10 PhD dissertations). She is an author of 279 scientific papers and 18 books. Since 2006 she organized together with students 53 charity events.

At the Accreditation and Quality Review Committee of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Republic of Serbia, she was selected as a reviewer for accreditation of higher education institutions and study programs. Vice president of the Expert Council for the Social Sciences at the University of Novi Sad. Reviewer at ENIC-NARIC Serbia Center, Qualification agencies of the Republic of Serbia. She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Subject Didactics (Serbia), “Revija za geografijo” (Slovenia), Serbian Journal of Geosciences (Serbia) and Universal Journal of Management (USA). She was a president of the Geographical Society of Vojvidina and she is a member of the Society of Subject Didacticians, Society of Demographers of Serbia and MENSA Serbia. She is a chairman of the subject section geography within the Society of Subject Didacticians. Staff member or manager in 35 research national or international projects.

Smiljana Đukičin Vučković is an associate professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. She graduated as a geography professor and defended doctoral dissertation in the field of social geography. She teaches following courses: School practice, Innovations in Teaching Geography, Historical development of geography teaching, School curricula in the world and in our country and Chosen chapters of Methodology of Teaching Geography.

Good communication skills gained through experience as a team member of 2 international projects Erasmus+ strategic partnership projects and several national projects. She is co-author of over 60 scientific works and 1 monography. She has been an active member of the Serbian Society of Subject Didactics and an administrator of the subject section geography within the Society of Subject Didactics.

Stefan Stajić, MSC is Junior Researcher of Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management at Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. He enrolled in undergraduate studies in 2012 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management and finished them in 2016. In the same year, he enrolled master studies in the field of professor of geography, and in 2017 he defended his master's thesis. He enrolled in doctoral studies in the Methodology of Teaching Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Informatics at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Natural Sciences in 2019. His researh areas are relating to geography teaching.

Ljubica Ivanović Bibić is an associate professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. She graduated as a geography teacher and defended doctoral dissertation in the field of social geography. Jelena Milanković Jovanov is a PhD student and Teaching Assistant on Faculty of Science, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management, University of Novi Sad. She holds on objects classes: Methodology of Teaching Geography, Teaching aids and resources for geography (BA studies); School curricula in the world and in our country, Historical development of geography teaching and Application of didactic principles in teaching of geography (master studies). Since 2017, she is an author and producer of several seminars and workshops for the professional development of teachers in primary and secondary schools, which are approved by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development (Institute for the Advancement of Education - PIA). She has authored or co-authored more than 35 papers. She has participated in national and international projects. She is member of the Subject didactics Serbia Society, Serbian Geographical Society.

Aleksandra Dragin is a full professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad. Her research field is human resources with specific interests in tourism, and geography. She published 217 scientific papers, 3 textbooks, 2 practicums and 7 monographs. She participated in numerous research activities, scientific conferences, seminars, round tables around the globe. She has participated as a leader, member, expert, coordinator, reviewer or secretary in 27 projects. She was an author and/or lecturer of 7 national programs for the education of geography teachers.
