This paper focuses on the first book of poetry by Milosz, published in 1899, as a kind of synthesis but also exhaustion of the decadentist esthetic. Milosz does actually not only write this book to illustrate the beauty of decadence, as the fin-de-siècle perceives it, but also to lead it to its ultimate consequence, that is to say an approach to silence.
