The purpose of this article is to show the role of emotions in experiencing the liturgy through the phenomenon of unison pulsations, and more specifically tristropha, found in the Gregorian repertoire. A thorough analysis of the neumatic sign of the tristropha understood in a broader verbal-liturgical context, allows us to draw conclusions for the contemporary experience of liturgy understood as active participation (participatio actuosa) involving human emotions.
