The role of the “suweren” in contemporary Polish discourse – one-sided view
Abstract
This article describes the changes that occur in the use of the expression suweren in the contemporary language of politics in Poland. The author assumes that over the past two years increasing occurrence of this expression has been observed and thus analyzes the consequences of increasing frequency on the meaning, expression and pragmatic level. The main thesis of the article is based on the statement that the atmosphere of political disputes affects the changes in Polish vocabulary. However, the article examines only the occurrences of this expression on one side of these disputes. In the analytical part, the emphasis is placed on the phenomenon of neosemantization and axiological changes. In conclusion, the author also deals with the issue of collocation, which is related to the issue of neosemantization.
