Education for Dialogue in the Catechesis of Young People

Abstract

The dialogue of the Church with young people is one of the basic demands of pastoral. Its aim is to develop good relations within the same community of the Church and education of the young people to an attitude of dialogue. One of the most important places of education to the attitude of dialogue is the teaching of religion in schools. It is a kind of „laboratory of dialogue”. This creates multiple opportunities to help young people to shape a mature personal identity. This identity includes an attitude of dialogue. This article identifies the following principles of education in the attitude of dialogue in the catechesis of young people: school catechesis as a suitable place of education for dialogue, Dialogue as a characteristic of mature personality, priority spirituality of dialogue over methods of dialogue, the need to strengthen dialogical dimension of school catechesis of young people, both in its methods and in content. Particular attention should be paid to dialogue with the contemporary world, which in the catechesis of young people is basically omitted
