The Essence of the Responsibility in the Family for Sick People

Abstract

The Care of sick people is the subject of numerous studies and elaborations and in the field of moral
theology concerns mainly the problem of responsibility of different persons for the process of treatment and the approach to persons which require care. One of the subjects is the nearest environment of the sick person which is his family. The presented paper shows the problem of the essence of the responsibility of family for the sick person. At the beginning the author presents the phenomenon of illness and its multiple references to the life of a family. In the second point the significance of the family is discussed in relation to the experience of illness. After an explanation of the experience of illness in the family and the significance
of it the author presents the problem of the essence of the responsibility of the family for his sick member and duties which appear in the situation of illness. The experience of illness has not only a negative, oppressive and unfavourable character for the family but can bear positive elements too. It can indicate the condition of human life and be an opportunity to deepen relations in the family.
