The ecological document on biodiversity published in 2021 by the German Bishops’ Conference deserves wider attention, including from Polish readers. The text analyzed in this paper calls, above all, for the protection of creation in the spirit of Pope Francis’ “green encyclical” Laudato si’. The rapid decline in biodiversity, alongside climate change, poses the greatest challenge to the survival of humanity. Accordingly, as the authors of this statement f rom Germany emphasize, human beings should act as stewards rather than masters of nature. Furthermore, the dramatic extinction of certain species witnessed today demands a change in lifestyle, agricultural reform, and the recognition of the inherent value of another living beings, rather than viewing them solely through the lens of utility. Consequently, the Catholic Church in Germany encourages the ecological management of its own lands and a reduction in consumption for the sake of our common home, the Earth. It would be worth applying this recommendation from the experts of the German Bishops’ Conference in other countries as well, including Poland.
