Résumé

The aim of this paper is an approximation of the basics of contemporary moral theology based on the statements of the Magisterium of the Church, expressed in the documents of the Pontifical Biblical Commission. These are
especially the four publications: The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church (1993), The Jewish People and Their Sacred Scriptures in the Christian Bible (2001), The Bible and Morality. Biblical Roots of Christian Conduct (2008) and The Inspiration and Truth of Sacred Scripture. The Word that Comes from God and Speaks of God for the Salvation of the World (2014). In the light of these documents the right post-conciliar Church’s response to the so-called “exegetical issue” can be read, which in recent years was associated with many interpretational difficulties. The fundamental postulate, which flows in this context for moral theologians, is the patient and careful assimilation of the principles of work with
the text of Holy Scripture and the creative use of them in the resolving the various moral dilemmas of modernity.
