Abstract
We can experience joy on many levels in life. It is definitely easy to rejoice in situations that inspire a direct feeling of joy. However, it is much more difficult to discover joy when facing sad experiences in life along with suffering and death. This article, inspired by Pope Paul VI’s exhortation Gaudete in Domino, is an attempt to reconsider the issue of joy, not only based on the above-mentioned exhortation, but also other documents and the selected literature concerning joy. This article indicates the most important inspirations in order to feel joy as presented by Pope Paul VI and they have been analyzed and reflected on in the context of modern times, in which people lose their joy and the meaning of their lives so easily.
