Résumé

Journalism is a noble profession in that it aims to inform the public. Moreover, men and women are constantly putting their lives on the line to let the world know what is happening, for example, in a country plagued by conflict, as we can see in Olivier Ravanello’s Paris-Bagad (2017) and « Le salaire du sniper » of Didier Daeninckx’s Passages d’enfer (1998). However, the desire at all costs to have a scoop or the pressure of the hierarchy anxious to ensure that the television channel generates more profit, often leads journalists to go against-current journalism ethics, particularly in the manufacture or manipulation of information. The goal is to have news that move viewers. This new journalism ethic translates the death of news journalism into the “business journalism” that makes media companies anxious to sell their products to a clientele lacking in strong sensation.
