Abstract

The present study is intended to extract pieces of information related to music from a revenue book of the sacristy of the Corpus Christi Church in Cracow. Thus far the book has not been a subject of scientific analyses. However, it is a valuable source for the study of, among others, the musical culture of the Canons Regular of the Lateran in Cracow during the period of almost one century (1711-1787). The pieces of information related to music in the book concern three issues:

1) the use of church bells and the fees paid to bell-ringers;

2) the offerings made by members of the church music ensemble for commissioned Masses;

3) the dates of funerals of several musicians associated with the Corpus Christi Church.

Keywords:

Canons Regular of the Lateran, Cracow, music, cloister
