Comparative Stylistics - Present-Day State and Main Courses of Research

Margarita N. Kožina

Abstract

Comparative stylistics has not assumed its full shape yet. The same directions are marked in its development as in stylistics in general. In the beginning, it concentrated on comparing means of style in analysed languages. For some time the proper comparative functional stylistics has made progress. Two tendencies can be distinguished in it: intra-textual - analysing the use of intratextual linguistic means in the functional styles /sub-styles/ under comparison, and the textual one.
