In the article expressiveness is considered 1) as the content, as the emotional-evaluative and demonstrative-evocative components of thought, and 2) as а kind of intensification of representation and expressiveness. The means of realization and functions of the two are described, specifically, in connection with the types of text. While defining the differences between communicative (functional) stylistics and expressive stylistics the author proceeds from the different functions of addressee and adresser (in whose interests the classification of functional styles and stylistic features is made up). However, in the author's opinion, communicative stylistics cannot accomplish all the tasks of the language stylistic differentiation. Тhе educating to thinк clearly and precisely, to write and to speak, influencing the mind, will and imagination is · the jurisdiction of expressive stylistics.
