Crisis of Colloquial Style?

Vladimír Patráš

Abstract

Colloquial style undergoes several metamorphoses as it functions in the communicative process. In common unprepared dialogues it frequently loses its stylistic characteristics. Spontaneous, vivid linguistic utterances can for the most part be more appropriately categorized by means of socio-communicative, psycho-linguistic and other parametres. But colloquial style - serving another one, e.g. (written) fictional style - clearly manifests its domicile style appropriateness. Colloquialness/oralness arises above all in the prose of so - called postmodernism.
