Abstract

Nature influenced the form of Celtic spirituality. In the prayers of the early Celtic period it is often presented, sometimes with the help of elaborate metaphors. There is not a Christian tradition that is characterised to such an extent as the Celtic of the Isles by a fascination with nature. This fascination was manifested, among other things, in Celtic prayers making God and creatures their object. Based on an analysis of selected Celtic prayers, this article discusses the issue of praise of the Creator and praise of creation.
