Reconciliation as the Foundation of Dialogue in the Gospel of Matthew

Abstract

This article offers an exegetical and theological analysis of Matt 5:23-24, arguing that Matthew places reconciliation at the heart of Christian discipleship. Through close examination of the Sermon on the Mount and related Matthean pericopes, the study shows how reconciliation grounds authentic worship, shapes community life, and reflects the Father’s merciful character revealed in Emmanuel. By integrating literary analysis with theological interpretation, the article demonstrates that reconciliation forms the foundation for interpersonal, social, and interreligious dialogue and is essential for credible evangelization in contemporary contexts.
