Rezumat

The notion of respect in Sony Labou Tansi's novel is omnipresent and evolves throughout the story. A story that paints a society of decline and disillusion following the decolonization of African countries, it is an independence that has cost Africans dearly because it has highlighted the human flaws towards the human. The novel is a real socio-political satire that criticizes the aberrations of postcolonial authority.
