Coexistence of words and music. Philological explication

Abstract

The paper focuses on selected medieval hymns which are still present in liturgy. This fragments of the hymns are analysed that characterize by particularly poetical and stylistic devices. This ones are used in writing for emphasis mysterious issues and to get readers to understand theological ones. In this article an attention is paid to the meaning a melody and subordinating its to verse’s form. Created during centuries Polish translations are shown in this sketch as well. Philological considerations are based on intertextual references and regard the biblical, patristic contexts and issues connected with music  and literary theory.
