Abstract

The Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) view on homosexuality and homosexual relationships has evolved, especially, since the 80’s of the twentieth century. Since then, the attitude of tolerance towards such couples was more and more widespread, but it does not mean them to be equal with marriage and family. Today, however, in the context of the newly published document of EKD, entitled “Zwischen Autonomie und Angewiesenheit”, the equal rights for samesex unions and their blessing on a par with marriage are postulated. Such a position of the Evangelical Church in Germany caused, of course, a lot of controversy, among Evangelics (Protestants) themselves as well as in the framework of the ecumenical dialogue.
